Résumé : A device is presented to measure the range of independence, and the force transfers between the deep flexor tendons of different fingers. These force transfers result from the coactivation of the individual deep flexors, or the stretching of anatomical interconnections between the individual muscle bellies or tendons. In the quantification of the forces in the deep flexor end tendons, errors may occur due to (involuntary) forces in the extensors and superficial flexors. These errors are investigated by modelling the distal interphalangeal joint equilibrium equation, and illustrated by measuring results. They can be avoided by appropriate instrumental design, and proper finger positioning during measurement.
