Résumé : Molecular imaging might address two different aspects of dementia management: the early and etiologic diagnosis of the neurodegenerative disease causing the troubles, and the follow-up and treatment evaluation of the disease. Tracers available for these different purposes target either specific processes, such as the presence of beta amyloid in the case of Alzheimer disease, or processes that relate to the global functional state of the brain. Benefits and disadvantages of these different tracers vary according to the function of the goals pursued. © 2008 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
