The article is the first publication since 2015 from the collaborative project that has resumed the study of the bilingual archive of the pagarch Papas, kept in the Edfu jar. It presents the edition of five Coptic letters documenting Papas’ administrative activities (taxation, requisitions made by the Arab authorities), as well as a unpublished Greek document from the same archive; another Greek fragment, possibly belonging to the archive, is published in a first annex; a second annex offers the study of 18 seals found at the bottom of the jar. The first results of this study show that Greek and Coptic papyri are complementary and that the distribution of languages does not follow the pattern: Coptic – private sphere / Greek – administrative sphere, as thought by Roger Rémondon, editor of the Greek papyri.
