Résumé : This article tries to show the Claudio Coello's participation in an altarpiece commission for the Monastery of Escorial addressed to Carreño de Miranda and finally achieved by Luca Giordano. Further, it analyses the use and meaning of Saint Ferdinand's iconography during the reign of Charles II of Spain.
