Résumé : Abstract: Optimal control theory has been employed to populate a dark state of the acetylenepolyad Ns = 1, Nr = 5 at J = 30 by indirect coupling via the ground state starting froma distribution of rotational states of the ground state. Relevant level energies and transitiondipole moments are extracted from the experimental literature. The optimal pulse is rathersimple. The evolution of the populations is shown for the duration of the control processand also for the field free-evolution that follows the control. The dark state appears to be apotential target for realistic experimental investigation because the average population of theRabi oscillation remains high and decoherence is expected to be weak.
