Résumé : The experience with transcatheter intravascular occlusion in 14 patients (age 52 to 72 years) with renal pathology is presented. In 13 patients with renal carcinoma the indication of embolization was preoperative management to facilitate surgery. In the 14th patient, embolization was performed to control massive hematuria. Diverse technics of vascular occlusion (Gelfoam, IBC and stainless steel coil) were used. Actually the authors perform a combined technic in which the selective arterial occlusion with a stainless steel coil follows Gelfoam occlusion. Embolization was effectively performed in 12 out of the 14 referred patients. It was judged useful in 10 out of the 11 patients with renal carcinoma and was curative in the patient with renal bleeding due to pseudoaneurysms of the renal artery. Transient lumbar pain was noted frequently, as major complication, occlusion of iliac artery occurred in one patient.
