Résumé : The fluctuations of the sleep parameters were investigated during the follicular and the luteal phases of the menstrual cycle during puberty, the premenopause and the menopause. The percentage of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep is clearly higher during the follicular phase, whereas the eye movement densities are significantly more increased during the luteal phase. Moreover, there is an intrapersonal, not an interpersonal consistency in the sleep architecture. The menopause does not appear to disrupt the structure of sleep.
