Résumé : This paper aims at analysing the relationship between Catholicism and capital cities through the lens of the high society Second Empire magazine : La Vie parisienne. Its theoretical basis draws on the recent trends in Press studies, such as those developed by Marie-Eve Thérenty and Alain Vaillant. Its purpose is to show how, at the time of the newspaper's civilisation, La Vie parisienne, besides its discourse's sauciness and its humorous disrespect of Church, shares a genuine relationship and common objectives with Liberal Catholicism led by Mgr Dupanloup. © Archives de sciences sociales des religions.
