Résumé : Acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH) was introduced into clinical practice in the 1970s to reduce requirements for allogeneic blood products [1]. Acute normovolemic hemodilution entails the removal of blood either immediately before or shortly after the induction of anesthesia and its simultaneous replacement by an appropriate volume of crystalloids and/or colloids to maintain “isovolemic” conditions [2]. As a result, blood subsequently lost during surgery will contain proportionally less red blood cells (RBCs), thus reducing the loss of autologous erythrocytes.
