Résumé : This article presents a review of the presentations and discussions held during an international symposium organized in April 1996 in Belgium on postoperative or post-traumatic upper extremity algodystrophy. Algodystrophy was defined as a local or regional pain syndrome with dysesthesiae, frequent allodynia, vasomotor disturbances, and dystrophy changes involving all tissues. New concepts on physiopathology (including possible causes as neurogenic inflammation or stenosis of the subclavian vein), imaging, prevention and treatment of the affection are discussed.
