Résumé : The ventilation/perfusion ratio and the distribution of nodules were studied by isotopic techniques (133Xe) in 26 coal miners with the micronodular type of pneumoconiosis (international classification). The results showed that in approximately 80% of the colliers) pneumoconiosis was accompanied by a localized reduction of perfusion, in particular in the lung apices. This was associated with anatomic alterations in the vascular bed of the lung. In relation to pulmonary function changes, the localized impaired perfusion cannot by itself explain the occurrence of hypoxia in pneumoconiosis of coal miners.
