Résumé : Inadequacy of the luteal phase in spontaneous cycles can be defined by several criteria. These latter, however, are not readily applicable to stimulated cycles. The study of IVF-cycles shows that about 25% of the stimulated cycles are characterized by an abnormal E2/P ratio in the preimplantation period and/or a shortening of the luteal phase. These two anomalies are associated with a reduction of the ongoing pregnancy rate, without modification of the overall pregnancy rate. In such cycles, treatment with high doses of progesterone given until corpus luteum rescue by hCG secretion from the conceptus, increases the ongoing pregnancy rate.
