Résumé : 55 Observations of patients with primary malignant tumor of the biliary tree were reviewed. In this series appear 36 cancers of the gallbladder and 19 tumors of the main bile duct. A belated symptomatology, especially in cases of gallbladder cancer, explains why the intervention is so often delayed and why the prognosis of these lesions is so poor. The efforts of the past few yr tending to perform radical surgical removal of the tumor appear relatively inefficient. Taking into account the failure of aggressive surgical operations, a special attempt should be made to improve the life expectancy of the patients by a combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy with palliative surgery. In addition, the systematic cholecystectomy in cases of cholelithiasis should provide better results.
