Résumé : The authors report their experience of double contrast gastroduodenal exploration. The technique is implemented in a systematic fashion and by first intention. It consists in the successive administration of effervescent products (Gastroluft, Gastrovison), the intravenous injection of a spasmolytic (Buscopan 200 mg, Glucagon 1/2 mg), and finally the ingestion of dense barium (Micropaque, Radiopaque, Baryumsulfat), to the first two of which anti-effervescent silicon (Rhodorsil) is added. The exploration is completed by a fluid barium examination, with graded compression. the advantages of the employed technique in comparison to the conventional examination are discussed in relation to 1319 cases. One especially notices the presence of erosive gastritis (6.2%), gastric ulcers (6.4%) and gastric cancers (2%). The double contrast is, however, insufficient for the study of certain lesions and raised elevations of anterior surface, and for duodenal lesions. In such cases it is necessary to include an examination with conventional techniques, the valuable achievements of which should not be ignored.
