Résumé : The canals of 30 recently extracted human teeth were filled with a photosensitizer. A series of 5 shots, separated by a resting time of 1 second also, was delivered by means of the KTP:YAG fiber tip. The temperature increases were measured on the topical point of the root surfaces by the use of a thermocouple. For laser settings, the rises were always below the safety threshold of 7 C. We conclude that the KTP:NdYAG laser can be harmless for periodontal tissues under some conditions. ©2004 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.
