| Résumé : | A cell method for the evaluation of the configurational free energy is presented in which each cell can contain 0, 1 or 2 particles. This method which is a generalisation of the method used by L e n n a r d-J o n e s and D e v o n s h i r e3), gives a correct evaluation of the so called "communal" entropy of the system. Numerical computations based on simple laws of force indicate that the value of the critical volume so calculated is in much better agreement with the experimental value than the value given by the L e n n a r d-J o n e s and D e v o n s h i r e method. © 1950. |
