Résumé : The collision operator, Ψ(s), introduced in the study of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics by Prigogine, Balescu and Résibois is exactly computed for the class of quantum systems whose hamiltonians are finite (N × N) periodic Toeplitz matrices. The properties of Ψ (s, N) are then examined in the infinite N limit for those systems whose energy spectra become continuous functions of the continuous wave vector and thus those for which the infinite-time limit of elements of the density matrix can exist. © 1973.
