Résumé : Two different striation patterns of the protoconch were observed in the Galapagos Bulimulid land snails; detailed descriptions of both types are proposed. The type of the protoconch is a useful taxonomic character, as most species belong to one type or the other. Nevertheless, in some species, shells can exhibit one type of apex or the other, and sometimes also they have an intermediate striation pattern. © 1986 The Malacological Society of London.
