Résumé : When a buncher is used in order to get rather narrow target pulses of charged particles, it is usually necessary to utilize a multiple-gap buncher. In order to be able to design a n-gap buncher we have established the theoretical expressions giving the parameters of such a buncher. These parameters, i.e. optimum bunching length, input phase of central ion and bunching ratio, suffice to determine entirely the buncher. The expressions remain valid within sufficient limits so as to cover a wide application range. © 1972.
