Résumé : In the view of many people, there exists a relationship between language and sexuality. Talking and making love are equally felt to bring partners together, to unite them, and to commit them to one another. Of all components of speech, voice is considered the most personal and hence the most binding. The notion that there is some connection between love and speech is probably due in part to the important role the mouth plays in either activity and to the influence which sex hormones exert on laryngeal behavior. © 1979 International Christian University Language Sciences Summer Institute.
