Résumé : This paper examines the attitude of the Belgian historian Henri Pirenne in respect of the recovery of scientific relations with Germany after the end of the First World War. Pirenne had close relations with the French and German scientists until 1914. To what extent the German aggression against Belgium, and the arrest of Pirenne and his captivity in Germany, influenced its relations with the German scholarly comunity during and after war. We use a rich documentation still largely unpublished (diary, correspondence, etc.) stored in the "Pirenne Papers" held at the ULB.
