Résumé : Tobacco plants on which a systemic infection due to TMV has developed contains two non-infectious proteins, immunologically related to the virus but without RNA. The electrophoretic mobilities of these two proteins and of the virus are all three different. These proteins are of very small dimensions, are easily aggregated in particles of similar shape as the virus and appear as fine needles, like the virus "crystals", at pH 3.4. They have never been found in leaves where the virus has developed as a consequence of direct infection. A hypothesis on their role in virus multiplication and the conditions of their occurrence has been formulated. © 1954.
