Résumé : Various constituents of nucleated and non-nucleated amebae have been followed with cytochemical and quantitative methods. The main results are as follows: 1. 1. Non-nucleated cytoplasm quickly loses it ability to utilize glycogen, while proteins are soon attacked. 2. 2. Removal of the nucleus produces a quick and considerable drop in the RNA content, but exerts little influence on cellular oxidations. 3. 3. Phosphorus metabolism is modified in non-nucleated cytoplasm: ATP accumulates in aerobic conditions and drops very quickly in the absence of oxygen. 4. 4. Removal of the nucleus affects in different ways the enzymic constitution of the cytoplasm: some enzymes remain unaffected while others drop quickly and sharply. The biological significance of these results is briefly discussed. © 1955.
