Résumé : This paper traces briefly the colonial past of Cameroon and the manner in which it existed in the English-speaking and the French-speaking parts. The reunification of the two sectors of the country in 1961 was effected to restore an equality of conditions on both sides of the former border and to strengthen the mutual ties. The imbalances inherited from colonization (economic and administrative) have considerably increased and reveal real disadvantages for the English-speaking part of Cameroon. Comments upon the growth of urbanization in this region by specifying the particular conditions of each town.-from English summary
