Résumé : The chlorine-photosensitized oxidation of chloroform {A figure is presented} was studied at 303, 346, 400 and 426 K. At the two higher temperatures the simultaneous oxygen-inhibited photochlorination {A figure is presented} was observed. The mechanism and kinetics of these reactions are discussed in detail and several complex rate constants are given concerning chain termination reactions and chain propagation reactions involving Cl., CCl3. and CCl3O2. radicals. The behaviour of this system is very similar to that of the chlorinated ethanes and ethylenes. Evidence for a chain termination reaction {A figure is presented} is given. © 1980.
