Résumé : The risk of individual or mass exposure to hazardous airborne substances is of increasing concern for emergency and disaster care providers. This paper presents an overview of the respiratory and systemic toxic manifestations that may be induced by an acute exposure to gaseous or vaporous chemicals. Prominent symptoms, criteria for diagnosis and general guidelines for treatment are presented for the most common offending inhalants.
