| Résumé : | In this paper, I would like to throw a bridge between a metalinguistic and a neo-Gricean account of puns. The metalinguistic dimension is highlighted by a number of writers (e.g. Sobkowiak, 1991 passim; Delabastita, 1993: 68; Attardo, 1994: 168) but, to my knowledge, there has been no thoroughgoing attempt at formalising the metalinguistic semantics and pragmatics of puns. |
